Apartment Review for 4133 Maryland Street - San Diego, CA

My overall experience was "okay" at best. Property is privately owned. Tandom garaged parking on-site, but garage is located in an alleyway which is not very well lit--have asked property owner several times, in writing via certified mail, to replace light bulbs to walkways and it has been 6+ months with no response. A lot of transients walk through alley and rummage through trash of apartment complex. Prior to moving in, verbally asked owner if insects (ie ants) were a problem which is denied. Wrong! Major ant problem during summer months, which I also asked in writing to be "fixed" with no resolution. When we first moved in, the intercom did not, and still doesn't, work--again we asked in writing for it to be fixed with no resolution. Due to the intercom not working, we have missed several UPS/FEDEX/USPS packages and have had to drive to delivery company offices to pick them up--big pain in the arse. All my requests and complaints were sent in writing via certified mail to owner's PO Box and I did not receive one reciept. Yet, when I included my rent check in one of the letters my check was cashed--illegal practice on the owner's behalf. As you can tell, property owner very unreliable but offers reasonable monthly lease (water included). Don't be fooled. Look eslewhere.
