Apartment Review
A Very Harsh, But Honest Review
Review Date: 11/28/2005
Reviewer: Anonymous

The customer service at the Las Flores Apartments complex steadily declined in the time I lived there, until by the time I left I was extremely unhappy living there. It is taking everything I have right now not to type this entire review in capslock with messages like, "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!" or "TOO LATE FOR ME! SAVE YOURSELF!" (I guess I snuck them in there anyway ;) In any case, please think seriously before renting with Las Flores. Some of the following might be exemplary aspects to consider: 1. They are very unprofessional at handling maintenance requests. Often, the complaint is written on a Post-it at the time of reporting, and it is a wonder when a member of the maintenance crew actually shows up. 2. The parking situation is very poor and unregulated. It's sort of a parking free-for all with no regard for which spots are assigned to which apartments. It is a serious problem. 3. The security is non-existent. The day my roommate moved in, her car was stolen out of the garage! I never saw a guard patrolling the area and I often felt vulnerable walking home from late classes in the dark. 4. No sense of community. The leasing officers (Lisa Mata, in particular) do not show the slightest bit of concern for renters well-being. They don't care to know anything about you, including your name. Seriously, if you go there ask her, Lisa, to tell you, off the top of her head, the first name of one of the tenants who rented apartment 289 between 2004 and 2005. (The answer will be Ari, Karla, Marike, or Jodee...but Lisa won't be able to come up with those, let alone the names of the current tenants for that apartment.)

If none of the above convinces you not to rent at Las Flores, maybe this will. I know Lisa Mata's name, and she doesn't know mine. I know the phone number of the leasing office by heart (it's 858-457-5161) because something was always wrong with our apartment. Las Flores will regularly raise the rent, even though they do not take steps to handle maintenance requests, alleviate the parking problem, increase security, or make anything resembling an effort, period.
