Apartment Review
Renters Beware
Review Date: 3/15/2010

The Management office is full of lies to get you in here. There is theft everywhere. Every product in the complex is as cheap as they come. Beware of dog poop. Be prepared for random increases in rent. The gym is the only decent quality feature in the complex, when it is not the hoodlums hangout. Please read more and I will explain. I have been at Mariners Cove for 3 years and it started out bad and has only gotten worse. I was told 33% of the complex is required by law to be lower income/ section 8 housing and it is very apparent. At night and during the days in the summer the streets and common areas are crowded with immature thugs that can care less if they are rude, loud, or in your way. Laundry is constantly stolen from the laundry mats. I have had worn diapers and used band aids appear in my dryer after washing my clothes. There are several washers and dryers broken at any given time. The laundry rooms are filthy and are often a hangout for the neighborhood hoodlums. Myself along with several other tenants have asked for cameras to be put in the laundry rooms, only to see absolutely nothing done. I don't do my laundry in the complex anymore. To say that the quality of the amenities in the apartment are poor is an understatement. The cheap blinds in my living room and bedroom have broke several times and I have given up getting them replaced or repaired. All of the closet doors fall off of the track constantly. I have a career in a mechanical field and am rather handy. The problem is the garbage products they use are so cheap they constantly break to a point where you just leave them alone because maintenance will only come in and dummy up the cheap product until it breaks again next week. I have had 2 leaks in my apartment so far. I don't have the time or space to describe the inconvenience and mess caused by maintenance because of AIMCO's cheap ways. My neighbor just moved out after 2 severe leaks in her apartment and AIMCO refused to replace her damaged carpet. My refrigerator came dented as "new". There used to be a decent dog park in the complex but after management could not put their heads together to rid the park of constantly being muddy due to extreme over watering in the entire complex they moved the dog park where there used to be a beach volleyball court. Now you can find the dog park if you follow the stench of buried dog poop and urine in the sand. This is completely unsanitary and I refuse to take my dog in there. WHERE ARE THE BREED RESTRICTIONS??? I have seen a 100+ pound not neutered pure bread Pit Bull that lives in the neighborhood. Currently there is a white Pit Bull and a German Shepard that go in the dog park and viciously attack any other dogs that try to come in. THERE IS DOG POOP ALL OVER THE COMPLEX. I promise you if you live here it is only a matter of time before the aroma of baking dog poop enters your apartment on a nice summer day. Not to mention you can't even enjoy the nice grass fields throughout the complex without falling in mud or stepping in dog poop. AIMCO decided they wanted to raise the rent so they implemented a $5 per vehicle raise increase saying it was to "improve lighting and parking". They took our money and have not done anything differently. There isn't any assigned parking and the lighting is extremely poor, if the area has any working bulbs at all. My car has been broken into twice. There isn't any surveillance of the parking lots besides the night security guard that could care less. Anyone can park anywhere without consequences but thank you corporate AIMCO for increasing everyone's rent. There are at least a dozen homeless people and trash diggers that somehow always manage to get in the complex (it isn't that hard). So you will always run into these dirty people digging through your garbage and riding their bikes through your neighborhood and around your kids. I am only here because I love how open and spacious the complex is but it is not worth dealing with how cheap and unprofessional AIMCO runs things. I will be leaving when my lease is up this year. Like I said, I have lived in this complex for 3 years. I have several friends that live here and all of these issues have been brought to managements attention several times only to be completely ignored. I have not seen one improvement in any of the issues listed in the 3 years I have lived here. I would never recommend anyone move into Mariners Cove or any other AIMCO ran complex.
