Apartment Review for Mira Bella Apartments - San Diego, CA

This apartment opened in 2009, and everything is new and beautiful. The downside to it is the location. I went to the police station and was told that this was a "questionable neighborhood" (the officer refused to say that it was a "safe neighborhood). There are navy housings around. Cabrillo Neighborhood Park, right next to the apartment, has had graffiti issues and the swings were taken out of the swing pole. Indeed I hear a lot of police car sirens in the day and night running through the area. Montgomery Field Airport and the fire station is down the road, and this is not the place if you are looking for a quiet residence :) Another resident and I agreed that the walls (ceiling and floor) were pretty thin, and you can hear people walking accross the room upstairs. Aparently, there is someone who plays the guitar till 2am on a weekday :) and I hear the sound of the base when someone plays the music loud. If you choose a room above the grill, smoke will enter your living room! Without having any major problem, I can't tell how the staff are. However, there were stains in the living room carpet when I moved in. The staff said they will have it cleaned. It's been more than a month, and the carpet hasn't been cleaned yet, despite repeated requests. The Leasing Office has FOX news on all day, if that means anything to anyone (there are some nice staff, though). Lastly, I wonder how bad the air quality is with the airport and the 805 and 163 freeways (both freeway entrances are within a mile). Something to consider if you have children. P.S. for those who rely on cell phones, there is poor reception here- people on my side of the building have to get close to or on the balcony in order to talk on the phone.
