Apartment Review
Would not go back

I rented a 2 bedroom there, due to the location and the price. These apartments are VERY old. THe manager told me this before hand, so it was expected. No A/C, an entire wall was wood paneling painted white, the walls are extremely thin! We had some stains on the carpet, which the manager said not to worry about. Whoever painted one of the bathrooms must have been blindfolded. We were ok, not excited about where we lived, but it was ok. When we moved in the manager said they were going to rennovate the building. Paint the ugly halls, etc, etc.. it turns out they give this spiel to everybody who goes there. Apparently this has been going on for years. The hallways feel like a crappy run down motel. The carpets mold in areas, walls are ugly, and dimly lit. I even saw mushrooms growing in the hall a few times along the wall from the carpet. The nightmare didn't begin until we moved out. We scrubbed the apartment. Had the carpets professionally cleaned. They looked better than when we moved in, and even got rid of the old stains. After about 2 weeks we got a check back for 1/4th of our deposit. No itemized statements, invoices etc, as required by California law. We waited the full 21 days and started calling. The manager will try to get you to change subjects, make things seem rosy. She said there were 2 deductions and would send a check and itemized statement for the difference on July 1st. We never received either. The manager is !!extremely!! hard to get a hold of. 2 calls a day, with messages, for a week and a half before the phone was finally answered. I had to track down who owns the building, and it is Pinnacle Reality Management. After calling and threatening to sue, and having multiple conversations with Pinnacle and the Apartment Manager, we would able to get our deposit back after threatening to sue for violating California Landlord Statutes. If you do choose to live here ** TAKE PICTURES WHEN YOU MOVE IN OF EVERYTHING ** and if anything needs to be fixed, put it in writing so their is a paper trail. Avoid this nightmare.
