deciding to move out. First, my place actually has 1 and 1/2 baths. 1 was just a shower in the master bedroom, & the other was just a bathtub. The units are old, & I called for service so many times during the first few months. The maintenance was timely. There was an instance where our water heater started to leak on our neighbor's unit below us, & they had to completely replace it. We shouldn't have picked that unit right in front of Camino Ruiz, because that street is very busy. We had to bear the sirens almost everyday from emergency response vehicles. When our lease was almost over, we were informed that if we choose to renew, the rent would go up to $1418, almost a $100 raise, which was unacceptable to me & my family. That's when we decided to move out. We were told that they needed a 30-day written notice of intent to vacate. I was actually one day late in turning that in. I was hoping the manager would let it slide, but she did not. It was actually a tentative decision on her part, because they lost my written intent. She said she would call me back once they'd made a final decision. I called them back after one week after having not heard from them. They still had no response for me. After another week of not hearing from them after they promised me they'd call back, I called again, and now I got a definitive answer from one of the staff that I would have to pay that extra day, which was fine. When that extra day came, we were actually all moved out 2 days prior. I called them & asked if I could turn in the keys on the next day, first thing in the morning. The staff said that was fine but never disclosed that I would have to be responsible again for another day of rent. Maybe I should've been more clear when I called to ask if it was ok to turn the keys in the next day. So, I come in the next day to turn in the keys, & the manager lets me know that I have to pay for another day. I told her about my phone call from the day before, but she wouldn't have it. She kept citing the lease agreements and all that, telling me I have to pay. It was like talking to a contract & not a human being. What's ironic was she then proceeded to tell me that they were going to let that first extra day slide as a courtesy. Basically, the extra 2 days that I had to pay for could've been easily avoided had she acted professionally & just called me back like they said they would. This was all very upsetting, but I had to man up and pay them. Now, they're telling me that I owe them more money for fixing the apartment up after we left, and the $550 deposit I put in wasn't enough to cover for everything. I hadn't even received a rundown of what it is that they fixed, and it's been over a month now. Please, please do yourself a favor, & DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. You won't get any straight answers from the staff, & the manager refuses to be responsible for what the staff informs or fails to inform the tenants. She herself needs to call tenants back on important matters when she promises she would. I can't believe I referred my brother to them, and now he's moving out, too. Good riddance!
