Apartment Review
10 reasons NOT to live here!
Review Date: 8/11/2009

We've lived at this location for about 5 months now. At first it was ok...but we slowly began to realize that we made a big mistake! Now...I don't wanna sound like a lunatic that's completely unrealistic so I wanna give you the pros and cons about living here. Pros - Nice quiet neighborhood. They've just redone the landscaping and I think it looks better than it did before. Rent isn't too bad, but I think that's gonna change soon. Cons - Our Top 10 1) During the 5 months we've lived there, they've shut off our water at least 4 times for "maitenance." Fine...I understand that they need to keep things working and they usually try to do this during the day on a weekday. But if they're gonna shut off my water all the time, then I expect my shower to work like it's supposed to! Every single time I've taken a shower in my apartment, the water alternates from VERY HOT to VERY COLD! What's THAT all about. AND our bathroom sink's pipes make a terrible noise if I don't turn the water on at full blast! 2) The AC doesn't only make your living room LOOK ugly and make furniture planning a bothersome task, but it also doesn't cool anything but the living room. We've tried closing up all the windows and doors and turning up the AC full blast, but it still doesn't work and just makes our bedroom even hotter! What makes us even more upset is that this was something we specifically asked when looking at the place. I said, "Does the AC cool the entire apartment'" She said, "Oh yes! This unit is more than enough to cool this entire place!" I don't think so! 3) SPIDERS SPIDERS SPIDERS! And they're good sized spiders too! Also I've seen dead rats! One in the middle of the parking lot, and another in the jacuzzi!!! GROSS! 4) Parking used to be a Pro for me cause we used to have 2 spots. But now they've gone down to ONE spot! If you want another spot you have to pay $50 extra every month. Again, this is one of the big reasons we picked these apartments in the first place. They also said that guest parking is really close when we first moved in. WRONG AGAIN! It's down the hill on the street and if you don't get a good spot down the hill, you have to drive up another hill to get to a spot. Then you have to walk up and down a hill (both ways) to get to our place. Sound confusing' Trust me...it's rediculous! The least they could do is not lie to us and let us it's "easy and convinient!" 5) I've seen a few people comment on the New Fitness Center they've added. Well...it's not very big...so sometimes you can't get in there when you want to. Also they an AC in there, but for some reason it doesn't work at all. They have windows, but you can't keep all of them open cause the neighbor complains about the noise the machine makes. They have a widescreen TV, but it's doesn't have a remote and you can't reach it. So you have to just watch whatever is on, but you can't hear it if you're working out cause there's no remote to raise the volume. 6) The walls in this place are extremely THIN! I've lived in 3 other apartments around San Diego county and all my friends live in apartments...I've never been able to hear as much as I can at this place. When we first moved in, I would freak out when I was alone cause it sounded like someone was in our living room! I also hate being scared of having anyone over for a party cause I think it'll be too loud! 7) I thought I would get over this one, but it's become such a pain that's it's actually one of the big reasons we wanna move. The way the complex is situated on the block, if you wanna go south (towards the 8 or 15 freeways) you have to go north about a mile and make a U-Turn at the light. I actually timed this a few times and it takes 2 minutes to make that U-Turn. So if you make this U-Turn 3 times a day, that's 6 minutes out of your day. Times that by 7 days out of the week and that's 42 minutes out of your week and so on! 8) They have LOUD blowers every SATURDAY morning at 9am! Now I know that there are people who like waking up early on their ONLY day off. But what about us that like sleeping in until 9:30 or 10am and only have Saturdays to do it'! Not only do the blowers make a lot of noise, but the sprinklers wake you up late at night and early in the morning every day! And the sprinklers are right outside our bedroom window...which we CAN'T close...cause our AC DOESN'T WORK! 9) Then there are all the little things like all of our outlets are loose and sometimes the plugs fall out of them. Which is a FIRE HAZARD! That's probably why they keep up with the smoke detectors. Also, our bathroom doorknob is VERY loose and they've already fixed it once. And our bathroom door bows out at the top. 10) And last but NOT least. My car was broken into right outside of our bedroom window! Security here stinks! The apartments themselves are gated in, but the locks on one of the gates doesn't even work! We tried to get renter's insurance, but the ins. company said that the apartment complex didn't meet the requirements so we were rejected! Now...when we first moved in they gave us 7 days to report any fixes that needed to be done. We told our manager about some of these things, but she always came back with "Well, that's how ALL the apartment complexes are" or "You have to turn the switch ON in order for the outlet to work." Grrrr.... One thing she was VERY clear on during our first walk through was that if anything is broken when we move out, it comes out of our deposit. She said that SEVERAL times! So I'm scared that if we mention anything that's wrong with our apt. they're gonna charge us and then charge us again when we move out cause they did a shoddy job and they have to fix it again! We would move out right now if it weren't for the thousands of dollars they would charge us for breaking our lease! If you're still reading this, thanks for taking the time to listen. I know this is a lot of what sounds like complaining...but like I said before, I've had my share of apartment living and I'm sorry but this is NOT "how ALL the apartment complexes are." DON'T LIVE HERE! NOT WORTH YOUR TIME, ENERGY, STRESS LEVEL, AND MONEY!!!
